Director Baltasar Kormákur won big with his Ibsen play Pétur Gautur gathering five awards and twelve nominations. The young comic illustrator Hugleikur Dagsson won playwright of the year to his own surprise. In recent years Icelandic theatre has been receiving more attention and acclaim abroad and more theatre groups plan on exporting their plays.
